Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Database Developer/Engineer with strong expertise in SQL Server and Oracle databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing database solutions to support enterprise applications and data-driven systems. This role requires hands-on experience in database programming, performance tuning, data modeling, and troubleshooting in both SQL Server and Oracle environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Development & Maintenance:
- Design, develop, and maintain database objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and packages.
- Write complex SQL queries and PL/SQL code for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
- Implement and maintain data integrity, consistency, and quality across multiple systems.
- Performance Tuning & Optimization:
- Analyze and tune SQL queries and database performance for optimal speed and scalability.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks, deadlocks, and performance issues.
- Use tools like SQL Profiler, AWR, and Explain Plan to monitor and improve query performance.
- Database Design & Architecture:
- Collaborate with application and data teams to design logical and physical data models.
- Implement efficient indexing and partitioning strategies to handle large data volumes.
- Participate in database schema design reviews and recommend improvements.
- Backup, Recovery & Security:
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies using native tools or third-party utilities.
- Ensure data security through user management, roles, and permissions.
- Work with infrastructure teams on high availability, disaster recovery, and failover setups.
- Collaboration & Documentation:
- Collaborate with application developers to ensure smooth integration between application and database layers.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for database objects, procedures, and standards.
- Support testing, release management, and production deployment activities.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL Server and Oracle databases.
- Strong proficiency in T-SQL and PL/SQL programming.
- Experience with database design, normalization, indexing, and partitioning.
- Proven expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of backup/recovery procedures, security, and database administration concepts.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Good to Have
- Experience with ETL tools (SSIS, Informatica, or similar).
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Familiarity with Cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Oracle Cloud).
- Exposure to DevOps/CI-CD pipelines for database deployment automation.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
