Job Description
- We are looking for an experienced SQL Developer to support the migration of reporting systems from Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) to PostgreSQL. The candidate will be responsible for converting existing database logic, optimizing queries, and ensuring smooth transition of reporting workloads.
- Key Responsibilities
- Migrate SQL Server workloads to PostgreSQL by converting T-SQL stored procedures, functions, cursors, and error-handling logic into optimized PL/pgSQL.
- Refactor existing T-SQL procedures and business logic into PostgreSQL-compatible routines.
- Support migration of reporting databases and ensure data integrity and performance optimization.
- Replace vendor-specific SQL Server features with efficient and scalable PostgreSQL query patterns.
- Perform performance tuning and query optimization after migration.
- Collaborate with reporting and data teams to validate migrated reports and queries.
- Troubleshoot issues related to database migration and ensure smooth deployment.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in SQL development.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL).
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and PL/pgSQL.
- Expertise in T-SQL stored procedures, functions, triggers, and cursors.
- Experience in database migration projects (MSSQL to PostgreSQL preferred).
- Good knowledge of query optimization and performance tuning.
- Understanding of reporting database structures and data transformations.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with MySQL migration or cross-database compatibility.
- Familiarity with data migration tools and ETL processes.
- Ability to work in fast-paced migration projects with tight timelines.
