Job Description
- 8+ years of experience in SQL Server / Database Administration, including architecture responsibilities.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, Hyperscale.
- Deep knowledge of HA/DR, performance tuning, and security.
- Experience with Azure networking (Private Endpoints, VNets).
- Deeps understanding of SQL performance tuning
- Experience supporting mission-critical, enterprise-scale systems.
- Strong scripting/automation skills (PowerShell /Python preferred).
- knowledge on AI tools/Agents is plus
- Experience handling tools such as Redgate, Datadog etc.
Responsibilities
- Design scalable, secure, and highly available architectures using Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VM.
- Define database standards, reference architectures, and best practices.
- Architect HA/DR solutions using Failover Groups, Active Geo-replication, Zone Redundancy, and backup strategies.
- Lead performance engineering, capacity planning, and scalability strategies.
- Design and enforce database security (Azure AD, TDE, Always Encrypted, Auditing, Defender for SQL).
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Lead database migration and modernization initiatives to Azure.
- Drive automation and DevOps using PowerShell, Azure Automation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and lead root cause analysis (RCA).
- Optimize Azure SQL costs using right-sizing, elastic pools, and reserved capacity.
- Act as SME and escalation point, mentoring DBAs and guiding development teams.
- Adopt AI tools /Agents/third party tools for DB operations
- Cross team collaboration, SOP documentation
Qualifications
- SQL Server Database Administration, 8+ Years exp.
- Azure certifications (Azure Database Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect).
- Experience working with FinOps and cloud cost governance.
- Exposure to DevOps and IaC frameworks.
- Experience supporting mission-critical, high-availability systems.
