Database Administrator

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Database Administrator to manage our database infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our database systems, with a strong focus on performance optimization, troubleshooting, and strategic migration projects. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in SQL Server and is ready to take on the challenge of migrating to and supporting PostgreSQL.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Database Management & Operations:
• Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of our Microsoft SQL Server estate.
• Actively work on performance optimization and query tuning to ensure database efficiency.
• Implement and support automated failover and monitoring mechanisms to minimize downtime and ensure data consistency.
• Participate in capacity planning by analyzing performance and growth metrics, forecasting future needs, and providing recommendations.
• Migration & Support:
• Lead the migration from SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
• Act as a key consultant, providing support and guidance to the development team on PostgreSQL topics.
• Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving:
• Troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of database issues, including performance issues, blocking and deadlocking, replication, connectivity, and security.
• Analyze and interpret advanced database metrics to optimize performance and resolve complex problems.

Skills

• Strong technical SQL DBA experience.
• Solid knowledge of MS SQL and SQL Server.
• Expertise in performance tuning, including optimizing data models and queries.
• Experience with infrastructure maintenance, including version updates.
• Proven experience with OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) solutions.
• Ability to work independently and proactively.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

Qualifications

• A relevant technical degree or professional experience in a similar role.
