Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Gurugram for a Database Administrator specializing in Oracle and AWS. The role involves managing, monitoring, and optimizing database performance, ensuring database integrity, and developing effective database designs. Responsibilities include performing database troubleshooting, managing data replication, and providing database-related technical support.

Key Responsibilities :-

Database Administration & Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle Databases (11g/12c/19c and above)
  • Perform database provisioning, schema management, and patch upgrades
  • Manage database lifecycle including development, testing, production, and decommissioning
  • Handle database cloning, refreshes, and migrations

Performance Tuning & Optimization

  • Monitor and optimize database performance using AWR, ASH, ADDM reports
  • Analyze slow queries and optimize using indexing, partitioning, and execution plans
  • Conduct regular health checks and performance audits
  • Implement resource utilization strategies (CPU, memory, I/O)

Cloud Database Management (AWS)

  • Manage and support databases on AWS RDS, Aurora, and EC2-hosted Oracle instances
  • Configure and monitor CloudWatch alerts and metrics
  • Handle database migrations from on-prem to AWS using tools like DMS
  • Ensure cost optimization and right-sizing of AWS database resources
  • Implement multi-AZ deployments and failover strategies

Backup, Recovery & High Availability

  • Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies using RMAN
  • Configure Data Guard / Active Data Guard / RAC environments
  • Design and test Disaster Recovery (DR) plans
  • Perform regular backup validation and restore testing
  • Ensure minimal downtime and data loss (RPO/RTO compliance)

Security & Compliance

  • Manage database security including user roles, privileges, encryption
  • Implement data masking and auditing policies
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (ISO, SOC2, etc.)
  • Monitor unauthorized access and vulnerabilities

Automation & Scripting

  • Automate repetitive DBA tasks using Shell scripting / Python
  • Develop scripts for monitoring, backups, and health checks
  • Work with tools like Ansible, Terraform for infrastructure automation

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with DevOps, application, and infrastructure teams
  • Support developers with query tuning and database design
  • Participate in release management and deployment activities
  • Provide on-call support for production issues

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Use tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), AWS CloudWatch
  • Generate reports on database performance, uptime, and incidents
  • Maintain documentation for configurations, SOPs, and runbooks

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 6–7 years of hands-on experience in database administration
  • Strong expertise in Oracle Database (11g/12c/19c)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (RDS, Aurora, EC2, DMS)
  • Expertise in RMAN backup & recovery
  • Experience with Data Guard / RAC (high availability setups)
  • Strong knowledge of SQL & PL/SQL
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Good understanding of Linux/Unix systems
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect / Database Specialty)
  • Experience with multi-database environments (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Exposure to DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Knowledge of data warehousing or big data tools is a plus
