Job Description

A Day in your life at MKS:

A professional Database Administrator (DBA) will keep the database up and running smoothly 24/7. The goal is to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and availability of SQL Server instances.
  • Perform daily database administration tasks including backups, restores, integrity checks, and job monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues such as deadlocks, blocking, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity problems.
  • Implement and manage high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions like Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, and Database Mirroring.
  • Apply patches and updates to SQL Server environments under guidance from L3/Sr. DBA.
  • Collaborate with application and development teams to deploy database changes and optimize queries.
  • Support incident and change management processes in alignment with ITIL practices.
  • Generate and maintain documentation related to database configurations, standard procedures, and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 35 years of hands-on experience as a MS SQL Server DBA.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and above) including SSMS, Agent Jobs, and SQL Profiler.
  • Experience with backup and recovery strategies using native tools or third-party solutions.
  • Working knowledge of indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning techniques.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like SQL Sentry, Redgate, SolarWinds, or similar.
  • Proficient in T-SQL for scripting and automation.
  • Familiar with Windows Server administration basics and Active Directory integration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft certification (e.g., MCSA / MCSE / Azure Data Engineer) is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of on-Prim and cloud-based SQL deployments (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.)
  • Exposure to PowerShell scripting for automation.
  • Experience working in a 24x7 production environment or on-call rotation.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in shifts and participate in on-call support as needed.
