Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and optimize slow-running queries and stored procedures in Azure SQL.
• Design and implement efficient indexing strategies to improve performance and reduce resource usage.
• Use tools like Query Store, Execution Plans, and Azure SQL Insights to diagnose and resolve performance issues.
• Design and manage table partitioning strategies to optimize query performance and support large datasets.
• Collaborate with development teams to review SQL code, schema changes, and data access patterns.
• Monitor and fine-tune database performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics.
• Perform periodic index and statistics maintenance, identifying fragmentation and optimization opportunities.
• Review database design changes for performance impact before deployment.
• Assist with capacity planning, query optimization during development, and postdeployment performance reviews.
• Participate in the implementation of database automation scripts for routine tasks and monitoring.

Requirements:

• Experience managing and optimizing SQL Server or Azure SQL environments.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, query optimization, indexing, partitioning and execution plan analysis.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database, including scaling, performance tiers.
• Familiarity with Azure-native monitoring tools such as Query Performance Insight, Azure Advisor, and Diagnostic Logs.
• Ability to proactively detect and solve performance bottlenecks.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with developers and DevOps teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines involving database deployments (e.g., using Azure DevOps).
• Familiarity with Elastic Pools, Serverless SQL, and Hyperscale tiers in Azure SQL.
• Good Understanding on security features like Transparent Data Encryption, Auditing, and Managed Identity access.
