Job Description

The Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the security of enterprise database platforms supporting IAM and other critical business services.

This is a mid-level role that independently executes day-to-day database operations and partners with application, infrastructure, and security teams, while escalating or seeking guidance on highly complex design decisions.

The DBA implements best practices for authentication / authorization and participates in an on-call rotation to support incident response and service restoration.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Administer, configure, and support enterprise databases across on-prem and cloud environments, ensuring high availability and reliable operations.
  • Implement and enforce database security controls (least privilege, encryption, auditing, patching) aligned with IAM and enterprise standards.
  • Partner with infrastructure, network, and security teams to provision environments and meet compliance requirements (e.g., audit evidence and access reviews).
  • Automate routine administration tasks using scripting and tooling (e.g., PowerShell, T-SQL, Bash) and standardize configuration through repeatable processes.
  • Maintain documentation for architectures, configurations, and operational procedures; participate in an on-call rotation (including after-hours/weekends as needed) to respond to incidents and restore service; share knowledge and support junior team members.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering relational and/or NoSQL databases in production environments; strong SQL skills.
  • Experience administering several of the following platforms Oracle databases. Microsoft SQL Server (2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022), including security, backup/restore, and performance tuning. PostgreSQL (13, 14, 15, 16, 17), including replication, upgrades, and vacuum/analyze strategies.
  • Cloud data warehouse platforms such as Amazon Redshift and Snowflake (administration, workload management and security). NoSQL and distributed databases, including MongoDB and Astra DB. MySQL (5, 8, 9)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills; ability to monitor systems, communicate clearly during incidents, and document operational procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP database services and hybrid architectures; familiarity with IAM integration patterns (SSO, service accounts, secrets management). Hands-on experience with HA/DR designs and tooling (e.g., SQL Server Always On, PostgreSQL streaming replication, Oracle Data Guard) Automation experience with scripting and infrastructure-as-code/CI/CD for database provisioning and deployments (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform). Experience with monitoring/observability (e.g., Splunk, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor) and security/compliance frameworks (SOX, GLBA, NIST); relevant certifications are a plus. Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field.
