Position Summary
We are seeking a meticulous and highly motivated Data Steward to join our agile data and analytics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the organization's data assets, ensuring data quality, consistency, and governance. You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure that data is accurate, accessible, and secure, supporting the organization's strategic initiatives and decision-making processes.
Primary Responsibilities
Data Governance and Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with data governance policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories to ensure data clarity and consistency.
Data Quality Assurance
- Establish and enforce data quality standards and best practices.
- Monitor, measure, and report on data quality metrics.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues.
Collaboration And Communication
- Work collaboratively with data engineers, analysts, and business users to understand data
needs and provide data stewardship support.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to promote data literacy and awareness across the organization.
Data Lifecycle Management
- Oversee the data lifecycle, from data creation and acquisition to archival and disposal.
- Ensure proper data classification and security measures are in place.
- Manage data access controls and permissions.
Agile Team Participation
- Actively participate in agile ceremonies, such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of agile processes and practices within the data and analytics team.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to team members to enhance team performance and delivery.
Documentation And Reporting
- Document data governance processes, data flow diagrams, and data lineage.
- Prepare and present reports on data governance and data quality initiatives to senior management.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data issues and resolutions.
Knowledge/Skills
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality principles, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in data management tools and technologies (e.g., data cataloging tools, data quality tools).
- Experience working in an agile environment, with familiarity in agile methodologies (e.g.,Scrum, Kanban).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
- Certifications in data governance or data management (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) are a plus.
Education And Experience
- Undergraduate degree (or equivalent experience) in related fields such as: Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management or other areas combined with relevant work experience is required
- 3+ years of combined experience in data stewardship, data governance, or a related role
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience to constitute a similar level of expertise, i.e.:
- Bachelor's degree and 1+ year of experience in relevant field OR Master's degree year in relevant field
- Agile methodologies and ideally, analytics methodology experience

- The base salary range advertised represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The base pay is only one aspect of the Total Rewards Package that will be offered to the successful candidate.
