Data Scientist - Supply Chain - Planning - India

We are seeking a Supply Chain Data Scientist with a strong demand planning and forecasting background to join an exciting project at global FMCG brand. This role is highly application-driven, focusing on building, running, and improving machine learning models used in real-world supply chain planning environments.

You will work closely with senior data scientists, demand planners, and supply chain experts to deliver reliable monthly demand and sales forecasts, perform root-cause analysis, and continuously improve forecasting accuracy using ML-driven approaches.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and run machine learning models for demand and sales forecasting
• Own and execute monthly demand forecast cycles, collaborating closely with demand planning teams
• Build and maintain scalable pipelines using Python and PySpark
• Run and manage ML workloads in Databricks, with outputs integrated into o9 planning systems
• Work with large datasets on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Google BigQuery
• Perform root cause analysis with planners and business stakeholders to explain forecast deviations
• Track and analyze multiple ML KPIs to monitor model performance and business impact
• Collaborate with fellow data scientists to improve modelling approaches, features, and methodology

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or applied machine learning
• Strong hands-on experience with: Python & PySpark
• Proven experience with demand forecasting and demand planning applications
• Solid understanding of:
• Machine learning algorithms
• Statistical modeling
• Time-series forecasting techniques
• Experience working with:
• Databricks (model runs and data processing)
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Google BigQuery
• Ability to work closely with demand planners and supply chain domain experts
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with business orientation

Contract Details:

• Location: Remote - India
• Duration: 12+ months with extensions
