Data Scientist - Health & Nutrition

Locations: 1 opening in Shillong, Meghalaya | 1 opening in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

Experience: 6–10 years

Salary: Negotiable (commensurate with experience)

Commitment: Minimum 2 years of commitment is highly desirable

Role Overview

As a Senior Data Scientist focusing on Health & Nutrition, you will spearhead state-level, multi-database big data analytics that serve as the foundation for AI-based decision-making platforms and agentic AI systems in public health. You will handle complex, large-scale datasets from diverse sources, transforming them into actionable, predictive insights that drive policy, clinical, and programmatic interventions.

Operating as a highly versatile data expert and Python/R developer, you will bridge the gap between raw public sector data and intelligent digital applications or dashboards. A core part of your role will involve engaging with stakeholders to understand strategic data needs, making sense of complex government databases, and building the statistical and computational pipelines that power intelligent, data-driven governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Government Data Mapping & Integration (Core Activity): Dive deep into raw data structures to understand, map, and relate complex datasets across multiple disparate government department systems, creating a cohesive data landscape for state-level analysis.
  • Data Wrangling for AI Pipelines: Lead the capturing, cleaning, structuring, and wrangling of messy, real-world data. You will be responsible for creating robust, high-quality datasets specifically optimized to feed and train AI pipelines and predictive models.
  • Geospatial & AI/ML Modeling: Utilize models and platforms like Terra stack AI, Google Earth, and advanced ML libraries to conduct robust AI/ML modeling, spatial data analysis, and predictive mapping for health and nutrition outcomes.
  • Statistical Analysis & Decision Frameworks: Utilize deep statistical grounding and inferential capabilities to develop robust decision-making frameworks. Analyze complex big data to extract rigorous, evidence-based insights.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Client Discussions: Actively participate in client discussions to deeply understand their data needs and strategic objectives. Translate these requirements into concrete analytical workflows.
  • Strategic Presentations: Create and deliver compelling, statistical data-based presentations that assist government leaders and institutional stakeholders in strategic, data-driven decision-making.
  • Analytical Development (Python & R): Leverage deep expertise in both Python and R to build backend logic, statistical models, and automated data processing scripts.
  • Advanced Data Visualization: Translate complex findings into cutting-edge visualizations using advanced JavaScript charting libraries (Graphs/GIS/Tabular) and open-source BI platforms to make big data accessible to non-technical users.

Desired Assets & Domain Knowledge

  • Previous statistical research or hands-on data analysis work specifically within the public health and nutrition sectors will be considered a significant asset.
  • Experience maintaining secure, localized, zero-data-sharing architectures when dealing with sensitive public sector and health data.
