We are expanding our Virtual DPO Practice and looking for a passionate Data Protection Officer who can act as an outsourced DPO for multiple enterprise clients across BFSI and Retail.

Role Overview

As a Data Protection Officer, you will lead privacy compliance engagements, advise clients on DPDP obligations, establish privacy governance frameworks, and serve as the primary privacy contact for assigned organizations. You will work closely with CISOs, CIOs, Legal, Compliance, HR, and business teams to operationalize privacy programs.

Key Responsibilities

DPDP Compliance & Governance

• Conduct DPDP compliance assessments and identify regulatory gaps.
• Develop remediation roadmaps and privacy implementation plans.
• Create and maintain RoPA (Records of Processing Activities).
• Review lawful purposes, consent mechanisms, privacy notices, and retention policies.
• Support DPIAs for high-risk processing activities.
• Ensure clients remain audit-ready through continuous compliance monitoring.

Virtual DPO Services

• Act as the designated Virtual DPO for assigned enterprise customers.
• Advise senior stakeholders on DPDP obligations and privacy best practices.
• Handle Data Principal Rights requests (access, correction, erasure, grievance, nomination).
• Coordinate breach response, regulatory notifications, and incident documentation.
• Conduct periodic privacy governance meetings and executive compliance reviews.

Documentation & Training

• Draft privacy policies, SOPs, consent notices, and governance documents.
• Deliver privacy awareness sessions for client employees.
• Prepare compliance reports, dashboards, and management presentations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, Commerce, or related field.
• 1-10 years of hands-on experience as a Data Protection Officer or Privacy Officer (mandatory).
• Experience working with BFSI and/or Retail organizations.
• Strong understanding of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP), 2023.
• Practical knowledge of consent management, RoPA, DPIA, privacy governance, and breach management.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• DSCI Certified Data Protection Officer (DPO)
• CIPP/A, CIPP/E, CIPM, ISO 27701, or equivalent privacy certifications
• Experience with privacy management or GRC platforms

What You'll Own in the First 6 Months

• Manage 5–10 Virtual DPO client accounts.
• Lead DPDP assessments and remediation projects independently.
• Build privacy documentation and governance frameworks for enterprise clients.
• Conduct executive privacy reviews and employee awareness workshops.
• Contribute to enhancing DataRakshaq's managed compliance offerings.
