Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Data Platform Architect to lead the design and evolution of a modern, scalable, secure, and cost-effective data ecosystem.

This is a senior architecture and technical leadership role, with responsibility for defining the platform architecture, establishing engineering standards, guiding technology decisions, reviewing engineering solutions, and ensuring that the data platform continues to evolve with business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the architecture and evolution of modern Data Lakehouse platforms.
• Define open and vendor-agnostic data architectures that support interoperability across multiple compute and storage engines.
• Drive architectural decisions around open-table formats, storage, compute, scalability, security, and performance.
• Establish engineering standards covering data pipelines, data modelling, CI/CD, documentation, and data quality.
• Design and oversee data governance, including PII discovery, access controls, auditability, and security.
• Drive platform performance, cost optimization, and FinOps initiatives.
• Conduct architecture and design reviews and provide technical direction to senior engineering teams.
• Maintain Architectural Decision Records and contribute to long-term technology roadmaps.
• Partner with senior business and technology stakeholders to translate complex architectural decisions into business outcomes.

Key Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience across Data Architecture, with substantial experience in architecture ownership.
• Strong experience designing or migrating Data Lakehouse environments, including Databricks and open-source technologies.
• Strong hands-on experience with dbt, Docker and Kubernetes (K8s)
• Deep understanding of Apache Iceberg and/or Delta Lake.
• Strong experience with Python/PySpark and Apache Airflow.
• Experience with cloud data ecosystems, particularly AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Understanding of data governance, DataOps, automated data quality, and modern data platform practices.
• Experience with technologies such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, DuckDB, and open-source data catalog solutions such as Apache Polaris will be an advantage.
• Strong ability to communicate architecture, technical trade-offs, and technology roadmaps to senior and C-level stakeholders.

What we are looking for:

We are particularly interested in architects with broad modern Data Platform and Lakehouse architecture experience. Databricks and Snowflake exposure is valuable, but the role is not intended for candidates whose experience is predominantly limited to a single data platform.
