Position: Data Architect - Snowflake DBT

Purpose of the Position: The Snowflake & dbt Data Platform Architect will design, govern, and scale modern cloud data platforms using Snowflake and dbt, with selective use of Snowflake Cortex for advanced analytics and AI‑assisted use cases. The role ensures the platform meets enterprise performance, security, and compliance standards, particularly for regulated Pharma environments, while enabling reusable analytics and data products across domains.
Key Result Areas and Activities:
- Platform Architecture & Design: Define end‑to‑end Snowflake architecture, including ingestion, transformation (dbt), semantic layers, and consumption patterns.
- Transformation & Analytics Engineering Enablement: Establish dbt standards (models, tests, macros, packages) to deliver scalable, version‑controlled transformations and analytics artifacts.
- Performance & Cost Optimization: Optimize Snowflake workloads using warehouse strategies, clustering, caching, and dbt model optimization to balance performance and cost.
- Governance, Security & Compliance: Implement enterprise‑grade data governance, security, and access controls suitable for Pharma and other regulated domains.
- Technical Leadership & Enablement: Provide architectural leadership, define best practices, mentor teams, and partner with stakeholders to deliver robust data products.
Role and Responsibilities:
Essential Skills:
- Proven experience as a Snowflake Architect / Senior Data Architect in enterprise environments
- Deep expertise in Snowflake architecture (virtual warehouses, multi‑cluster, data sharing, time travel, zero‑copy cloning)
- Strong hands‑on experience with dbt (models, tests, macros, documentation, deployments, best practices)
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Snowflake query/performance optimization
- Experience designing secure, governed data platforms (RBAC, masking, row/column security)
- Strong understanding of data modeling (dimensional, data vault, analytics‑friendly models)
- Exposure to Snowflake Cortex or Snowflake‑native AI/ML features for advanced analytics use cases
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in Pharma / Life Sciences data domains (commercial, clinical, RWE)
- Familiarity with dbt Cloud, CI/CD, and Git‑based deployment strategies
- Integration experience with ingestion tools (Fivetran, Informatica, Matillion, Airflow)
- Exposure to BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy) on Snowflake
- Knowledge of advanced analytics, ML, or GenAI patterns leveraging Snowflake
Qualifications:
- Min 9+ years of overall experience in data engineering and analytics, with significant architect‑level ownership of Snowflake‑based data platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
