MSCI Services is looking for a Data Operations - Associate to join our Shared Service Data operations team in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. This role specializes in Business Activity classification with a focus on Digital Assets. Our Data team researches and evaluates companies, instruments, and other asset classes based on a multitude of factors. You will be responsible for classifying Digital Assets and related asset types according to the Datonomy methodology, and systematically managing their upkeep. This position offers exposure to the full lifecycle of digital asset initiation, classification, ongoing maintenance, and its derived use in products across MSCI Index and other business units.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Help re-engineer Digital Asset classification operations.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to design, build, and test systems.
- Incorporate AI/LLM augmented QA, source transparency, and governance controls into processes.
- Integrate a unique digital asset identifier and manage the ongoing universe.
- Contribute to other business classifications as part of the broader team, including issuer and business segment classification across asset classes like Equities, Privates, and Fixed Income.
- Manage daily operations, coverage expansion, and internal and client query management.
- Gain exposure to Equity, Fixed Income & other related indexes, performance and analytics; Exchange and vendor data feeds and symbology, etc.
- Perform in-depth analysis of data, analytics, and workflows to improve processes and/or develop new tools in collaboration with Tech and Development teams.
- Collaborate across a global organization to serve both internal and external clients in a shared services environment.
- Partner with our product and coverage organization to serve top-tier clientele, including central banks, leading financial institutions, hedge funds, and corporations.
Your Skills and Experience That Will Help You Excel
- Master's degree in Finance/Economics from a premier institute (or equivalents like CFA, CA, FRM), or an engineering degree with solid experience in finance.
- Working knowledge of financial markets data operations (Equity, Fixed Income, Alternate investments).
- Excellent communication skills (both written and presentation), with the ability to thrive in a multicultural environment.
- A self-starter with the drive to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Solid background in Excel and working knowledge of SQL.
- Experience working with IT teams, knowledge of charting tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.), and basic coding skills to build Proof of Concept models (Python, R, or other scripting) will be an added advantage.
Desired Experience
- Exposure to content/research work in Alternate Asset classes, especially digital assets, will be a plus.
- Experience working with global vendors (Reuters, Interactive Data, Factset, etc.) will be a plus.
- Comfortable with different work shifts and schedules (excluding US night shifts).
