Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Migration Architect to lead the end-to-end data architecture, data modeling, and transformation strategy for a critical, core migration program. In this role, the person will:
- Design and orchestrate a complex, on-premises data migration from a legacy banking application to our next-generation application.
- Own the architectural blueprint for a metadata-driven pipeline built on a multi-layered Medallion Architectureusing SQL Server and SSIS. Beyond standard ETL layout.
- Architect the foundational enterprise frameworks that ensure operational resilience: an Error Handling Framework, Audit Logging Framework, Restartability mechanisms, and End-to-End Data Lineagetracking.
- Design a specialized Banking Reconciliation Framework to guarantee financial data integrity, providing the exact verification models required by the Quality Engineering (QE) team for final validation.
Experience: 10+ Years
Location: Hyderabad/Chennai.Bangalore/Pune
Work Mode: Hybrid
Technical Skills & Requirements
Core Migration Framework & Resiliency Engineering
- Design a Metadata-Driven Orchestration Strategy using control tables to dynamically govern data cleansing, transformation rules, and pipeline execution across all Medallion layers.
- Architect a robust Restartability Framework within SSIS and SQL Server to ensure that if a high-volume migration package fails midway, it can safely resume from the exact point of failure without data corruption or duplicate extraction.
- Build an enterprise-grade Error Handling & Audit Logging Framework that captures, categorizes, and logs granular pipeline events, row-level exceptions, and execution metrics in real-time for immediate troubleshooting.
- Establish End-to-End Data Lineage tracking from the legacy source tables, through every intermediate Medallion transformation stage, down to the final target system payload.
Financial Governance & Banking Reconciliation
- Architect a comprehensive Banking Reconciliation Framework specifically tailored for core accounting modules (e.g., Chart of Accounts, balancing ledgers), ensuring penny-accurate financial data validation.
- Define structural alignment, balance matching, and audit mechanisms to verify that data migrated across layers maintains total financial integrity.
Medallion Layer Architecture & Schema Design
- Build and maintain the Canonical Data Model across the Silver and Gold layers, securing relational hierarchy and entity continuity between Source and Target.
- Implement a bidirectional data-flow strategy, enabling the pipeline to ingest and pull necessary reference data from the target system database back into the Medallion layers to feed subsequent migration modules.
Leadership & Team Collaboration
- Provide clear technical and architectural blueprints to a tight-knit delivery team
- Lead technical discovery workshops and construct Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to validate architecture hypotheses regarding data staging and queue management.
Required Skills
- Experience: 12+ years of dedicated experience in enterprise data architecture, data modeling, and large-scale transactional data migrations, specifically within core banking, financial ERP modules, or general ledger domains.
- ETL & Database Mastery: Exceptional depth in Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), including advanced master/child package design, performance tuning, and metadata-driven ETL architectures.
- Framework Design: Proven track record of designing custom, reusable enterprise frameworks from scratch: specifically Error Handling, Audit Logging, Data Lineage, and Pipeline Restartability systems.
- Financial Data Quality: Expert knowledge in designing banking reconciliation systems, financial audit trails, and data cleansing rule engines.
- Environment: Strong expertise operating within complex, highly secure on-premises enterprise ecosystems.
- Understanding of AI Agents and a clear vision of how to leverage autonomous agents (such as Agentic Data Mappers or automated SQL Extractors) to significantly accelerate the design and development phases of data migration.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
