Role Overview

Hitachi Vantara is seeking aData Infrastructure Engineerto join our Global Quality Assurance and Engineering organization. In this role, you will support the design, development, and maintenance of the data infrastructure that powers analytics, AI integrations, andlargescaledata workflows across our products.

You will work with senior engineers to build reliable data pipelines, managestorageand compute environments, ensure data quality, and support integrations withthirdpartydata systems. This role is ideal for anearlycareerengineer who enjoys working with distributed systems, storage platforms, networking fundamentals, andcloudnativeinfrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Operations:Support the setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting of data infrastructure components across cloudandonpremenvironments.

  • Storage & Compute Management:Work with distributed storage systems, object stores, block storage,filestorageand compute clusters to ensure performance and reliability.

  • Networking Support:Help diagnose connectivity issues,validatenetwork paths, and ensure reliable communication between distributed systems.

  • Data Quality & Validation:Implement checks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across systems.

  • Integration Support:Validateand maintain integrations withthirdpartydata platforms, APIs, andvendorprovideddata services.

  • Automation & Scripting:Develop scripts and small tools to automate routine infrastructure tasks.

  • Documentation:Maintainclear documentation for data workflows, infrastructure components, and operational procedures.

  • Collaboration:Work with global teams across India, Japan, and the US to supportdatarelatedinitiatives andcrossfunctionalprojects.

  • Continuous Improvement:Identifyopportunities to improve data reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.

  • Monitoring & Observability:Assist in configuring dashboards, alerts, and logs for data systems using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, orcloudnativemonitoring.

  • Data Pipeline Support:Assistin building,maintaining, andoptimizingdata pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery.

Required Skills

  • 1-3+yearsof experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, data engineering, or related technical roles.

  • Strong foundational knowledge ofstorage technologies, such as block storage, object storage (S3compatible systems), NFS, or distributed file systems.

  • Understanding ofnetworking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, load balancing, VLANs, and network troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity withLinux/UNIX/Windowsadministration, including system monitoring, resource management, and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity withVMWARE environment,Vcenter/ESXimanagement, and troubleshooting.

  • Exposure tocomputeplatforms, including virtual machines, containers, and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes basics).

  • Basic experience withcloud infrastructure(AWS, Azure, or GCP), especially storage, networking, andcomputeservices.

  • Ability to write scripts inPython,Bash, or similar languages to automate infrastructure tasks.

  • Understanding ofmonitoring and observabilityconcepts (metrics, logs, alerts) and experience with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, orcloudnativemonitoring.

  • Familiarity withCI/CD pipelinesand version control (Git).

  • Strong analytical andproblemsolvingskills with a willingness to learn complex distributed systems.

  • Good communicationskills and ability to collaborate with global teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework, internship, or project experience in infrastructure engineering, storage systems, or cloud operations.

  • Certifications such as:

  • VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA)for virtualization andcompute.

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

  • Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

  • CompTIA Network+(networking fundamentals)

  • CompTIA Linux+(Linux systems)

  • AWS Cloud Practitioner

  • Azure Fundamentals (AZ900)

  • Google Cloud Digital Leader

  • Exposure toInfrastructureasCodetools (Terraform, Ansible).

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor).

  • Experience with distributed systems or storage platforms (Ceph,MinIO,GlusterFS, NetApp, or similar).
