Data Governance Manager – Finance to design, govern, and optimize core financial enterprise structure master data. This role ensures data consistency, completeness, validity, accuracy, uniqueness, and timeliness across end‑to‑end business processes.
Role Purpose / Summary
Lonza sees data as a strategic asset to perform business, gain insight, and create additional value. Governance of enterprise structure master data is therefore critical. The Data Governance Manager acts as the single point of responsibility for Finance item governance, defining standards, ownership, and lifecycle rules for critical finance structures. Operating globally across all business platforms, functions, and sites, the role is a key contributor to the
Lonza Data Framework and broader governance model. Acting as advisor to process and data owners in Finance, the role ensures full understanding of cross‑functional dependencies when introducing new enterprise data objects.
Enterprise structure elements in Finance include Company Code, Profit Center, Profit Center Hierarchy, FR Unit, FR‑Unit Hierarchy, IC‑Trading Partner, Divisions, Controlling Area, etc., which serve as references across the company in different systems.

What You'll Do
- Define, implement, and continuously evolve governance frameworks, standards, and processes for enterprise structure master data in Finance.
- Design and manage lifecycle processes for critical organizational data objects, including creation, change, and deactivation of enterprise structures.
- Analyze the impact of data changes across upstream and downstream systems and guide stakeholders to informed decisions.
- Lead impact assessments for new enterprise structure requests and coordinate implementation with IT and governance teams.
- Manage and oversee enterprise structure data within SAP, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and integrity through control checks.
- Drive data quality monitoring, reporting, and analytics strategy for enterprise structure elements.
- Act as a trusted advisor to Finance data and process owners, ensuring alignment with governance standards and cross‑functional dependencies.
- Lead stakeholder engagement, training, and capability building to embed governance practices across the organization.
- Develop and maintain training materials and deliver training sessions to business users.
- Manage tools supporting data governance and coordinate with internal and external IT service providers.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data quality, process efficiency, and reporting capabilities.
- Support and contribute to the development of the Lonza Data Framework.
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Finance, Engineering, IT, Mathematics, or related discipline.
- Proven experience in finance master data or enterprise structure data management within a global organization.
- Strong understanding of enterprise structure data concepts and ERP systems, particularly SAP FI/CO.
- Experience with data governance frameworks, tools, and best practices.
- Solid understanding of business processes and cross‑functional integration.
