Role Overview:
The Data Governance Developer is responsible for building and maintaining metadata management, data lineage, compliance, and governance frameworks across the data ecosystem, primarily using Microsoft Purview and related Azure technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and configure Microsoft Purview, including collections, roles, scanning jobs
- Integrate with Azure Data Lake, Synapse, SQL DB, Power BI, Snowflake
- Implement metadata ingestion and automate workflows using PowerShell, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and REST APIs
- Maintain business glossary, data classification (PII, PCI, PHI), and labeling policies
- Ensure compliance via Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) and DLP tools
- Design dashboards in Power BI and use Azure Monitor for insights
- Conduct audits for metadata quality and maintain governance consistency
Tools & Technologies:
- Governance Platforms: Microsoft Purview (strong hands-on), Informatica, Collibra, Atlan
- Automation & Integration: PowerShell, Azure Functions, ADF, Logic Apps, REST APIs
- Lineage & Metadata Sync: ADF Synapse Power BI, dbt, Talend
- Security & Compliance: MIP, DLP, Compliance Manager, Insider Risk, eDiscovery
Required Qualifications:
- 46 years in data governance or data management
- Mandatory expertise in Microsoft Purview & Informatica governance tools
- Familiar with Azure Data Factory, data regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)
- Skilled in translating technical governance concepts for business audiences
