Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced Data Governance professional to strengthen regulatory compliance, data quality, and governance within the banking sector.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and define Critical Data Elements (CDEs) based on regulatory reporting requirements and business priorities.
- Develop and maintain data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and related documentation.
- Identify source systems and map data elements to regulatory, risk, management, and operational reporting requirements.
- Standardize data definitions, business rules, and data specifications to promote consistency across the organization.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, reporting teams, IT teams, and external vendors to gather requirements and validate data lineage and governance processes.
- Assess data quality across dimensions such as completeness, accuracy, consistency, and granularity, and recommend improvement initiatives.
- Define and enhance data quality controls, including validation, reconciliation, exception management, and monitoring processes.
- Establish and validate end-to-end data lineage across data sourcing, transformation, and reporting layers.
- Evaluate data governance frameworks, policies, and processes against BCBS239 principles and organizational standards.
- Conduct gap assessments and recommend remediation measures to strengthen regulatory compliance and data governance maturity.
- Support regulatory reviews, audits, and governance assessments through documentation preparation and evidence collection.
- Define data governance KPIs, data quality metrics, and issue management processes to improve governance effectiveness.
- Prepare governance reports, project updates, and management presentations for key stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or related disciplines, preferably within the Banking or Financial Services industry.
- Strong understanding of banking operations, regulatory reporting, risk management, and data governance practices.
- Proven ability to analyze data flows and assess how reporting data is sourced, transformed, and generated across systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and logical reasoning skills with the ability to interpret reporting requirements and establish end-to-end data lineage.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with business users, technology teams, and external partners.
- Strong expertise in BCBS239, Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting (RDARR), and data governance frameworks within the Banking and Financial Services sector.
- Proven experience in developing or enhancing data lineage, data dictionaries, metadata management frameworks, and data quality controls.
- Experience conducting BCBS239 assessments, control reviews, regulatory compliance reviews, or remediation initiatives.
- Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical governance controls, operating procedures, and implementation roadmaps.
- Experience with data governance tools such as Collibra, Informatica, or equivalent platforms is an added advantage.
- Working knowledge of MAS reporting requirements and banking data structures is an added advantage.
- Prior experience in financial data governance or enterprise data management initiatives is an added advantage.
