Job Description

Workfall is a new-age premium talent tech platform, looking for seasoned Data Governance & BI Quality Analyst to join our Data Platform team. This is a senior individual-contributor role embedded within a large, legacy Microsoft SQL Server Critical BI ecosystem that has served the organization for nearly two decades. The successful candidate will bring a governance-first mindset to a technically complex environment, owning data quality frameworks, lineage tracking, compliance enforcement, and cross functional risk assessments while collaborating closely with DBA and DevOps functions.

This role demands both depth and rigor someone equally comfortable reading an execution plan, reviewing a CI/CD pipeline, and authoring governance documentation that meets audit standards.

Environment:

The platform is built on Microsoft SQL Server BI stack and has been in continuous operation for nearly two decades. The core technology landscape includes:

  • Database: Microsoft SQL Server 2022
  • Integration: SSIS 2022
  • Analytics: SSAS 2017 / 2019
  • Reporting: SSRS 2014 / 2019
  • Orchestration: SQL Server Agent job networks and SSIS catalog execution chains
  • DevOps: On-premises Azure DevOps Server for source control, CI/CD, automated testing, and environment promotion (DEV → UAT → PROD)

The environment reflects nearly two decades of accumulated development generations, with parts of the codebase built on earlier constructs, as languages and practices have eveolved requiring strong governance, risk mitigation, and performance management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the organization's data governance and quality frameworks across the BI platform.
  • Maintain metadata, lineage documentation, and data quality scorecards in alignment with governance frameworks.
  • Conduct regression testing, impact analysis, and quality validation for SQL, SSIS, SSAS, and reporting assets.
  • Partner with data owners, BI teams, and risk/compliance functions to evaluate platform risks and drive standardization.
  • Ensure BI and data platform compliance with change management, test governance, lineage tracking, and documentation standards.
  • Support internal audits, SOX controls, access reviews, and operational readiness assessments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong governance mindset with focus on documentation, lineage, regression prevention, and quality checks.
  • Knowledge of BI ecosystems (SQL, SSIS, SSAS, Power BI) and ability to evaluate data/ETL quality risks.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM) and metadata management practices.
  • Experience with testing frameworks, release validation, and structured change processes. What Sets You Apart
