Role: Data Governance Architect

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

Define and operate governance controls for data classification, quality, catalogue, glossary, lineage, retention, access, archiving and disposal.
Establish approved data sources, grounding policies, access controls and evidence requirements for analytics and AI workloads.
Apply governance patterns using Dataplex, Data Catalog and comparable governance platforms.
Support controls for sensitive and regulated data using Google Cloud Sensitive Data Protection, Dataplex policy controls and recognised compliance frameworks.
Operate governance KPIs, control testing, risk and exception registers, remediation tracking and escalation.
Work with architecture, security, privacy and delivery teams to ensure explainability, traceability and auditability.

Required Skills & Experience

7–12 years of experience in data governance, privacy, risk, compliance or information management.
Practical experience designing and operating governance controls.
Hands-on experience with Dataplex, Data Catalog or comparable governance platforms.
Knowledge of data lineage, Cloud DLP, BigQuery, RBAC/ABAC, least privilege, retention and audit controls.
Understanding of governance for Vertex AI, Gemini, BigQuery ML and agent-based solutions.
