Job Description: Omnia Data Engineer (Hadoop)

Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled Omnia Data Engineer with expertise in big data technologies to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, particularly in Hadoop and related technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement solutions using Hadoop, Spark, and Hive.
• Write and optimize code in Scala, Java, or Python.
• Perform data manipulation using SQL, HQL, and SparkSQL.
• Manage data import/export tasks with Sqoop.
• Conduct data wrangling to clean and structure data for insights.
• Collaborate in an Agile environment and contribute to solution design.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Experience: 3+ years as a Big Data Software Engineer; 5+ years for Senior roles.
• Programming: Proficient in Scala or expert-level in Java.
• Hadoop & Spark: Strong knowledge of HDFS and Spark commands.
• SQL Proficiency: 3+ years of experience with SQL and various RDBMS.
• Hive: Familiar with Hive and HQL.
• Job Scheduling: Basic experience with AutoSys.
• Unix/Linux: Strong command of commands and shell scripting (3+ years).
• Version Control: Proficient in GitHub; familiarity with CI/CD tools is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Kafka or Spark Streaming.
• Knowledge of Scalding Scala API for Hadoop.
• Familiarity with Snowflake and/or Ab Initio technologies.
• Experience working in Agile environments and ITIL service management.

Soft Skills:

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
