Role Overview/Your Impact

• Design and build custom automation applications and systems from scratch, owning the full lifecycle from requirements and architecture through to deployment and maintenance.
• Develop workflow automation solutions using tools like Camunda, Python-based orchestration, or similar BPM/workflow frameworks, tailored to specific business needs.
• Build data ingestion layers and integration systems using platforms such as Apache NiFi or custom-developed pipelines, connecting multiple source systems reliably and at scale.
• Integrate AI and LLM capabilities into automation workflows to add intelligent processing, classification, or decision-making to business use cases.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to deeply understand operational problems and translate them into well-engineered software solutions.
• Take ownership of solution reliability, design for resilience, build in monitoring, and resolve issues quickly when they arise.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing systems and processes, and drive those improvements through to delivery.
• Write clear technical documentation covering system design, integration architecture, and operational procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers on software design, development practices, debugging, and delivery discipline.
• Review junior engineers work, support their growth, and help maintain consistent quality standards across the team.

What Does the team do

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Data Engineering & AI team. A team that builds cutting edge automation solutions that transform how data is ingested, processed, and used across the business. This is a software engineering role at its core. We don't just configure tools, we build them, from data ingestion layers to workflow automation solutions. You will own solutions end-to-end: from understanding the business problem, through system design and development, to deployment and ongoing reliability. The role also has an AI dimension, the team actively integrates AI capabilities into the solutions it builds. If you enjoy building systems that solve real operational problems and want to work at the edge of automation and applied AI, this role is for you. You will also be expected to mentor junior engineers, helping them grow as developers and maintain high standards of engineering quality across the team.

Our Expectations

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of hands-on software development experience, with a strong track record of building and owning applications or systems end-to-end.
• Strong Python development skills, beyond scripting, with experience building services, APIs, or applications with proper structure and maintainability.
• Experience building workflow automation or BPM solutions, ideally using tools like Camunda, Temporal, Airflow, or equivalent frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with data ingestion or integration development, building systems that reliably move and process data across multiple sources(Apache NiFi experience is a plus).
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, and system integration patterns.
• Solid grasp of software design principles: able to make architectural decisions, justify tradeoffs, and build for maintainability and scale.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic) and experience integrating them into production workflows is a plus.
• Good SQL skills and comfort working with relational databases.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, methodical, ownership-driven, and able to diagnose issues across complex systems.
• Clear communication skills: able to work with non-technical stakeholders and document technical work thoroughly.
• Experience with Apache NiFi, Camunda, Airflow or similar data flow / ingestion platforms, specifically in a development capacity (building custom processors, flows, or extensions).
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including serverless functions, event-driven architectures, or managed workflow services.
• Experience with containerisation and deployment using Docker or Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and observability tooling for production systems.
• Experience working in a product or platform engineering team where you shipped and maintained software used by internal business teams.
