Role Overview

• We're looking for a Data Engineer to build and own Oyela's centralized data platform. You will design scalable data pipelines, integrate multiple business systems, and create the single source of truth that powers analytics, business intelligence, and AI-driven decision making.
• Key Roles and Responsibilities:
• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to consolidate data from Shopify, OMS, WMS, ERP, logistics, payment gateways, and other third-party platforms.
• Build and manage a centralized AWS data warehouse (PostgreSQL/RDS or equivalent).
• Ensure high data quality, consistency, and reliability across all business systems.
• Handle API integrations, authentication, pagination, rate limits, retries, schema evolution, and webhook processing.
• Develop automated data validation, monitoring, and alerting systems.
• Build business dashboards and reporting systems using Grafana, Metabase, Power BI, or similar tools.
• Create standardized KPI reporting for leadership across sales, inventory, procurement, finance, and operations.
• Working directly with the founders and business teams, you will ensure reliable, real-time access to business data across supply chain, finance, operations, marketing, and customer experience.

Qualifications and Skills: 

• 3–6 years of experience in Data Engineering.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Strong SQL skills with experience writing complex analytical queries.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar relational databases.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience integrating REST APIs and handling large-scale data ingestion.
• Strong understanding of Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA).
• Experience with AWS services such as RDS, EC2, S3, Lambda, or Glue.
• Experience with Git and version control.
• Experience working in an early-stage startup or directly with founders.
