Role Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive MS SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our database operations team. The ideal candidate will have an understanding and background in MS SQL Server database administration, performance monitoring, backup and recovery, and high availability solutions. In this role, you will work closely with senior DBAs to ensure the reliability, security and efficiency of our SQL Server database environments across development, test, and production environments.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the Installation, configuration, and maintenance of MSSQL Server databases.
- Monitor database performance, identify potential issues, and help optimize system performance.
- Support backup, restore and maintain integrity and availability.
- Creation, management, and optimization of database objects (tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, etc.).
- Participate in high availability and replication setup activities such as Log shipping, Replication,
- Managed instance support, and Goldengate.
- Manage database security, roles, and privileges.
- Automate routine tasks using T-SQL and PowerShell.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployments and troubleshoot issues.
- Conduct capacity planning and proactively manage database growth.
- Maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide support for critical systems.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 2 to 4+ years of hands-on experience as an MS SQL DBA.
- Understanding database installation, configuration, backup and recovery processes.
- Exposure to Azure databases, Azure Data Factory (ADF) and ETL packages.
- Familiarity with Management studio and T-SQL for query writing and troubleshooting.
- Exposure to performance monitoring, index maintenance and database optimization concepts.
- Basic knowledge of windows server environments and PowerShell scripting for automation.
- Good understanding of database security, user management and access control.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a willingness to learn and grow.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified (DP-300) or similar certification.
