Job Summary
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance database solutions to support business and operational needs. This role involves writing and optimizing SQL, PL/SQL, and Python code, managing Snowflake-based data environments, and ensuring database performance, reliability, and security. The Data Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and is expected to be familiar with modern AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and GitHub Copilot to improve coding efficiency, debugging, and overall development quality. The role also contributes to documentation, automation, and continuous improvement of database systems.
Responsibilities
Database Design and Development:
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable SQL and Python scripts, PL/SQL programs, and database solutions in support of business needs.
- Create and manage Snowflake-based database solutions, ensuring high performance and reliability.
AI-Assisted Development
- Utilize modern AI tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Co-pilot) for writing efficient code, debugging, and enhancing productivity.
- Stay informed about emerging AI-driven technologies to boost development efficiency.
Performance Optimization
- Perform database performance tuning by identifying bottlenecks and optimizing complex queries for improved execution time.
- Debug and troubleshoot performance-related issues across Snowflake and SQL servers.
Coding And Code Reviews
- Write, review, and maintain high-quality, clean, and efficient SQL/PL-SQL & Python code.
- Collaborate with team members to conduct in-depth code reviews, ensure adherence to best practices, and maintain code quality standards.
Data Management And Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect requirements, understand business objectives, and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure data integrity and security, adhering to regulatory and compliance requirements within the fintech industry.
Documentation And Automation
- Develop documentation for SQL & Python scripts, database structures, and coding standards.
- Automate repetitive database tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
Requirements
- 4+ years in SQL engineering role.
- Demonstrable prior experience with Python.
- Solid understanding of database architecture, design, and security best practices.
- Prior experience working on mission-critical, high-performance database systems in financial services or related industries is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of AWS cloud.
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
