Overview of the Role

The Senior Technical Lead – AWS Data Engineering will serve a critical function within HCLTech's Life Sciences and Healthcare division. This role is responsible for architecting and leading the development of advanced data solutions leveraging AWS cloud technologies. The position directly influences business-critical pharmaceutical analytics, compliance, and innovation, ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure, and efficient data workflows that support regulatory and operational excellence.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures using AWS services such as S3, Redshift, Glue, EMR, and Lambda.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of developers, fostering technical growth and productivity.
• Conduct comprehensive code reviews, establish quality assurance processes, and enforce best practices and coding standards for reliable project delivery.
• Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, application developers, and stakeholders to deliver integrated data solutions tailored to pharmaceutical industry requirements.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security in compliance with FDA, HIPAA, GxP, and other industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Implement ETL processes to ingest, transform, and manage large datasets from multiple sources.
• Optimize data storage, retrieval, and reporting workflows for analytics and business intelligence.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows, resolving technical issues to ensure continuous and reliable operations.
• Document data engineering processes and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and team learning.
• Participate as a technical consultant in feasibility studies, technical discussions, and process reviews, supporting architecture best practices and risk assessment.
• Prepare and submit project status reports, actively minimizing exposure and closure of escalations.

Skill Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, preferably within the pharmaceutical or healthcare domain.
• Proficiency in AWS services for data engineering and analytics (S3, Redshift, Glue, EMR, Lambda).
• Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and/or Scala.
• Experience in designing, developing, and optimizing ETL pipelines.
• Sound knowledge of data governance, security, and regulatory compliance in Life Sciences and Healthcare.
• Familiarity with data modeling, warehousing, and reporting tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
