Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Data Engineer to join our growing Data Engineering team. This role is ideal for candidates with 1–2 years of experience in data engineering, software development, cloud technologies, or analytics who are eager to build scalable data platforms on AWS.
You will work closely with senior engineers, architects, data scientists, and analysts to develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines, data lakes, and analytics solutions supporting Life Sciences and Healthcare customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in building and maintaining Data Lakes using AWS services such as S3, Glue, Athena, and Lake Formation.
- Develop and support ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS Glue, Lambda, Python, and SQL.
- Work with structured and semi-structured data from multiple data sources.
- Support data ingestion, transformation, validation, and reporting processes.
- Write clean, reusable, and maintainable Python code for automation and data processing.
- Assist in implementing workflow orchestration using AWS Step Functions, EventBridge, or Apache Airflow.
- Support data quality checks, monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
- Work with databases and data warehouses such as PostgreSQL, Redshift, and DynamoDB.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Business Analysts to support analytics requirements.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and team discussions.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in Data Engineering, Software Development, Analytics, or Cloud Engineering.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Good understanding of SQL and relational databases.
- Basic understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data processing workflows.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as:
- Amazon S3
- AWS Glue
- Amazon Athena
- AWS Lambda
- Amazon Redshift
- Amazon CloudWatch
- Understanding of data warehousing fundamentals and data modeling concepts.
- Familiarity with Git and version control systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to Apache Spark, PySpark, Kafka, Kinesis, or similar big data technologies.
- Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow or AWS Step Functions.
- Basic understanding of NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or MongoDB.
- Exposure to BI and visualization tools such as QuickSight, Power BI, or Tableau.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, or AWS Data Engineer Associate certification.
- Internship, academic projects, or hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms.
- Exposure to Healthcare, Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, or Scientific Computing domains is a plus.
