Job Description
We are looking for a
Data Engineer with strong expertise in
SQL, advanced
data warehousing concepts, and programming skills in
Python or Java. The role requires hands-on experience with
GCP BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, and strong exposure to
Dataplex for governance and data management. All transformations are built using
dbt, so familiarity with dbt development and best practices is essential. Experience with
Snowflake or
Databricks is a plus. Understanding of
Workday data structures and
HR analytics is good to have.
Responsibilities
- Build scalable data pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud Composer.
- Develop ELT transformations and data models using dbt following modular, testable, and governed practices.
- Apply advanced data warehousing techniques, performance optimization, partitioning, clustering, and data modeling patterns.
- Implement data governance, quality rules, lineage, and metadata workflows through Dataplex.
- Develop production-ready code in Python/Java for orchestration, automation, and data processing.
- Collaborate with analytics, product, and business teams (including HR/Workday domains) to define data requirements.
- Ensure secure, reliable, and cost-optimized data pipelines aligned to best practices.
- Support CI/CD, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of pipelines and dbt models.

Qualifications
- 48 years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or analytics engineering roles.
- Strong expertise in SQL and advanced data warehousing topics (modelling, performance tuning, optimization).
- Hands-on experience with GCP BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, and Dataplex.
- Practical experience developing transformations and models in dbt.
- Proficiency in Python or Java for data processing and automation.
- Exposure to Snowflake or Databricks (good to have).
- Understanding of Workday data structures and HR/People Analytics concepts (good to have).
- Strong problem-solving skills, communication, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
