Let Me Tell You About The Role
- Ship daily: Design, build, test, and deploy data pipelines and products in rapid sprint cycles — every day is demo day.
- Own end-to-end: From raw data ingestion to curated datasets, APIs, dashboards, and downstream ML/AI consumption — you own the full stack.
- Vibe-code with AI: Use AI-assisted coding tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor) as a natural part of your workflow to 10x your output.
- Hack and prototype: Rapidly prototype solutions for complex data problems; build proof-of-concepts that turn into production systems.
- Automate everything: If it can be automated, you've already scripted it. CI/CD, data quality checks, monitoring — all automated from day one.
- Collaborate at speed: Work directly with data scientists, AI engineers, and product managers in daily standups. No ivory towers.
- Challenge the status quo: Propose better architectures, question existing patterns, and bring fresh ideas from the startup world.
What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)
- 3+ years of hands-on data engineering experience, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment
- You've built things from scratch — not just maintained someone else's codebase
- Hackathon DNA: you've competed in or organized hackathons and you bring that intensity to every workday
- End-to-end builder: comfortable across ingestion, transformation, orchestration, serving, and monitoring
- Fresh, curious mindset — you learn new tools in days, not months
- Vibe coder: you pair with AI tools naturally and use them to amplify your engineering output
- Strong ownership mentality — you don't wait to be told what to build; you identify the problem and ship the fix
- Comfortable with ambiguity; you thrive when there's no playbook
