Job Description:

Role Overview

The MDM Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and governing enterprise‑scale Master Data Management (MDM) solutions that ensure consistent, accurate, and trusted master data across critical business domains.

This role defines MDM architecture, golden record strategy, identity/entity resolution, stewardship workflows, and governance frameworks, enabling reconciled and audit‑ready master data across people, organizations, entities, relationships, and reference data with experience in leading enterprise MDM platforms preferred.

Key Responsibilities

MDM Architecture & Strategy

  • Define end‑to‑end MDM architecture aligned with enterprise data and solution architecture.
  • Design domain models and canonical master data structures (Person, Customer, Entity, Organization, Address, Contact, Reference Data, etc.).
  • Define golden record strategy, data consolidation patterns, and cross‑domain relationships.
  • Establish MDM operating models, including hub‑and‑spoke integration with upstream and downstream systems.

Identity & Entity Resolution

  • Design and implement identity and entity resolution strategies, including:
  • Deterministic (rule‑based, exact/key‑based) matching
  • Probabilistic / fuzzy matching using scoring, weighting, and thresholds
  • Define match, merge, unmerge, and survivorship rules with full traceability.
  • Ensure entity resolution approaches are accurate, explainable, and scalable, especially for regulated or high‑risk use cases.

Data Quality & Governance

  • Define enterprise data quality rules, profiling strategies, and exception handling mechanisms for master data.
  • Design and enable stewardship workflows, approvals, overrides, and remediation processes.
  • Integrate MDM with data governance, metadata, and lineage frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, audit, privacy, and data protection requirements.

Integration & Interoperability

  • Design integration patterns between MDM and:
  • ETL / Data Integration platforms (e.g., Talend or equivalent)
  • Data warehouse / lakehouse platforms
  • BI & Analytics platforms
  • External systems and APIs
  • Enable API‑based and event‑driven MDM services for real‑time and batch use cases.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to MDM leads, developers, and data stewards.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects, Data Architects, Governance Leads, and Program Managers.
  • Support UAT, production rollouts, post‑go‑live stabilization, and audit reviews.

Documentation & Audit Readiness

  • Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation covering:
  • MDM architecture and design
  • Matching and survivorship rules
  • Stewardship and governance policies
  • Data lineage and audit trails
  • Ensure MDM solutions are defensible during statutory, compliance, and legal reviews.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

B.E. / B.Tech / M.Tech / MCA or equivalent

Experience:

  • 10–15 years in enterprise data management and data architecture roles
  • 8–10+ years hands‑on experience in MDM implementations
  • Experience with one or more enterprise MDM platforms such as:
  • Informatica MDM
  • IBM InfoSphere MDM
  • Reltio
  • SAP MDG
  • Semarchy
  • Teradata MDM (good to have)
  • Experience in large, regulated, or complex enterprise environments preferred

Primary Skills

  • Enterprise MDM architecture and solution design
