We are looking for a

Data Architect, Finance Data Products

to join KONE IT Enterprise Data & Analytics team in Pune, India. The team is driving forward Data Foundation, a new way of working with data using the latest cloud technology Databricks on AWS leveraging modern multi-hop medallion data architecture. Data Foundation is a key enabler in KONE digital transformation creating ability to develop new scalable AI/ML and digital use cases by leveraging data across the whole organization. In our approach, data products play a vital role in business value generation. Driving optimized data architecture practices is crucial to ensure reusability and maintainability of data products.

Finance Data Architect is responsible for ensuring an effective data supply chain within Finance Data Domain on our Databricks platform. This includes designing and optimizing the data architecture from the data ingestion layer (bronze) to the business-optimized data consumption layers (gold), enhancing the value of available data products, and documenting the physical data architecture of the data products. Finance data domain encompasses data integrations from various application systems, and the finance data products are utilized by multiple consumers across the company for different use cases, functions, and teams.

The responsibilities of a Data Architect on Databricks platform include designing, developing, and creating data products to meet business data needs. This role also involves providing data architecture support to all stakeholders and offering guidance on technical issues arising from data-related problems and incidents, as well as recommending actions to mitigate these issues. Data Architect works closely with Product Owners, Data Engineers, Global Data Owners, Enterprise Architects, Data Scientists, and development teams across the organization.

As Finance Data Architect your main responsibilities will be:

  • Analyzing data requirements and forming information requirements specifications for data products. Translating business requirements into clear data requirements for end-to-end data pipeline creation and business optimized data consumption.
  • Designing data architecture and data products: Data architecture design, data modelling and data quality assurance activities.
  • Driving data related innovation creation, such as developing new data products, and providing guidance to data consumers about existing data products and data consumption capabilities.
  • Translating KONE's strategic objectives into data requirements on the Databricks platform, while incorporating a data architecture perspective into decision-making and planning activities to effectively manage complex implementations.
  • Identifying data architecture improvement needs and opportunities and ensure that the improvements are incorporated into roadmaps, and to source systems or data consuming systems roadmaps, when required.
  • Supporting in incident handling process when the incident is related to data. Helping in identifying data flow and data quality flaws causing these incidents and preparing change proposals to permanently fix them.
  • Data product cataloguing to data catalog to improve availability of data documentation, and usability of data by the data consumers.

To succeed in Data Architect role, following professional experience will play a key role:

  • Master's degree in engineering, computer science, management information systems, or a related field
  • 12-15+ years of professional hands-on experience in data architecture, data modeling, data engineering, analytical data processing, software engineering in enterprise working environment.
  • Subject matter experience in finance processes and genuine passion understand the data produced in the finance business processes. Previous working experience in enterprise systems, such as SAP ERP FI/CO, FSCM.
  • Experience in working with complex data enterprise landscapes (raw, semi structured, and unstructured data with different patterns batch, real-time, streaming) from multiple business processes and applications.
  • Ability to write clear documentation and visualize data architecture design as data pipelines and data models (3NF, dimensional modeling) with clear information requirements. Ability to provide data architecture support on hands-on level to data engineering teams.
  • Proven coding skills with multiple languages (SQL, Python) with hands-on experience in industry standard software development life cycle methods, DevSecOps/DataOps practices spanning the full data product/data pipeline lifecycle.
  • Technical expertise in following tech stack: Databricks data engineering, multi-hop medallion architecture, Unity Catalog, Airflow, DBT, AWS Glue, AWS EMR, AWS Athena, Spark, Apache Flink, Apache Kafka, Terraform, Gitlab/Github. (Databricks and AWS certifications is an advantage).
  • Expertise in cybersecurity guidelines, data privacy, compliancy regulations and quality assurance practices, and cloud FinOps.
  • Experience in coaching and/or mentoring, proactive knowledge sharing and maturing DataOps practices.
  • Passion to utilize agile development methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence, draw.io).
  • Ability to work collaborate and deliver in agile sprints. Ability to work in a global multi-cultural team across different countries and effectively collaborate within the teams. Ability to self-organize and be proactive, seek feedback, be courageous and resilient, and have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English language, and strong facilitation and communication skills.
