Data Architect Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our team in a fast-paced environment where multiple small projects may run simultaneously. This role requires deep technical expertise along with strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills to align diverse stakeholders and deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

Design and maintain the overall data architecture, ensuring systems are scalable, efficient, and aligned with business and reporting needs

Ensure proper integration of data sources by designing and supporting accurate, reliable ETL solutions

Design dimensional data models (star schema following the Kimball approach) and partner with BI teams to develop LookML models that support analytics and reporting

Collaborate with business analysts to gather requirements, validate data quality and translate business needs into technical specifications

Provide thought leadership and guidance on best practices for data architecture, modeling and governance across concurrent initiatives

Communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non technical stakeholders to facilitate alignment and manage expectations in a multi project environment

Required Skills and Experience

15+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling and database management

Strong dimensional modeling skills using star schema and hands on experience with Erwin Data Modeler for building and maintaining enterprise data models

Experience designing and implementing ETL pipelines with a strong understanding of data integration patterns and performance optimization

Knowledge of Enterprise Data Warehouses and the Kimball methodology

Knowledge of Databricks (hands on experience is a plus)

Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management abilities

Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, multi project environment while maintaining high quality and attention to detail

Nice to Have

Hands on expertise with Looker (LookML), Snowflake and strong SQL development skills
