About The Job:
We're looking for a Data Analyst who is highly experienced in Power BI report development and can independently drive analytics work end-to-end—from requirements gathering and documentation through data modeling, analysis (SQL/Python), and stakeholder-ready reporting.
You'll partner closely with business teams to translate questions into clear requirements, build reliable datasets, and deliver dashboards that drive decisions.
Essential Job Functions:
Lead Power BI report and dashboard development (operational reporting).
Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify definitions/KPIs, and document business and functional requirements.
Write and optimize SQL for querying, transformation, and performance (complex joins, CTEs, window functions, etc.).
Use Python for exploratory analysis, automation, data quality checks, and advanced analytics when needed.
Build and maintain semantic models (Power BI datasets), including:
Data modeling (star schema), relationships, measures
DAX calculations and time-intelligence patterns
Power Query / M transformations where appropriate
Ensure reports are accurate, consistent, and trusted through testing, validation, and data governance best practices.
Communicate insights clearly via strong storytelling, written summaries, and presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
Work in an agile environment using Scrum methodology, participating in ceremonies (standups, grooming, sprint planning, demos).
Track work and collaborate with engineering/product teams using Azure DevOps (preferred).
Qualifications:
6+ years of experience in analytics, BI, or data analysis roles (senior-level ownership).
Understanding of row-level security (RLS) and sharing/governance patterns
Strong SQL skills (writing performant, readable queries; data validation).
Proven experience gathering and documenting requirements, including KPI definitions and acceptance criteria.
Excellent communication skills (verbal + written) and comfort working directly with business leaders.
Experience delivering analytics in Retail and/or Finance domains is a plus.
Experience in Agile/Scrum teams; Azure DevOps experience preferred.
Nice to have
Experience with Azure data ecosystem (e.g., Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory).
Familiarity with data quality frameworks, metadata/cataloging, and governance practices.
Basic statistical analysis, forecasting, or experimentation experience.
Success looks like
Stakeholders trust the dashboards because definitions are clear, data quality is strong, and documentation is solid.
Reports are performant, maintainable, and aligned to business outcomes.
