Business Analyst Key Responsibilities & Required Skills:
1. Requirement Gathering & Analysis
- Engage with stakeholders to understand business needs, challenges, and objectives.
- Document, analyze, and refine functional and nonfunctional requirements.
- Convert business requirements into clear technical specifications for data, reporting, and engineering teams.
2. Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary bridge between business users, data engineers, and BI developers.
- Conduct workshops, requirement sessions, and alignment meetings.
- Maintain transparent communication, provide progress updates, and manage expectations.
3. Data Analysis & Validation
- Perform exploratory data analysis to support insights and decisionmaking.
- Review and validate outputs from SQL queries, dashboards, and Power BI reports.
- Ensure data quality by checking accuracy, completeness, and relevance.
4. Documentation & Process Mapping
- Create and maintain BRDs, FRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Develop process flow diagrams, data dictionaries, and usecase documentation.
- Maintain detailed documentation for BAU processes, workflows, and migration activities.
5. BAU (BusinessasUsual) Support
- Respond to adhoc data and reporting requests.
- Support issue resolution, system enhancements, and change requests.
- Ensure smooth business operations during upgrades, transitions, or platform changes.
6. New Tool / System Migration Support
- Conduct impact assessments and readiness evaluations for migration initiatives.
- Work with technical teams to map legacy processes to new system components.
- Participate in and support UAT, including test case execution and validation of reports/pipelines.
- Document outcomes, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
Preferred Technical Skills
- Power BI Dashboard validation, report analysis
- SQL Writing, reviewing, and validating queries
- Alteryx Workflow understanding and data transformation exposure
