Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful Data Analyst to support our vertical-focused business intelligence initiatives. The analyst will be responsible for conducting secondary research to gather market, customer, and project data across priority verticals, followed by primary research (phone calls, emails, LinkedIn outreach) to validate and enhance the information.

The role includes building and maintaining customer/contractor databases, assessing business fitment, and generating actionable insights to support strategic and sales decisions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Secondary Research (60%)

  • Identify and collect data on companies, contractors, consultants, and end users across targeted verticals (e.g., hospitality, district energy, commercial buildings, healthcare, data centers).
  • Extract relevant information from paid databases, public sources, project platforms, company websites, and regulatory filings.
  • Build profiles for customers and influencers (e.g., plumbing contractors, mechanical contractors, reps, consultants).
  • Map market ecosystemsvalue chains, decision makers, project owners, and competitive landscape.

2. Primary Research & Validation (25%)

  • Conduct structured outreach (phone calls, emails, LinkedIn) to verify data collected through secondary research.
  • Validate company focus areas (e.g., specialization in hospitality plumbing projects).
  • Identify key contacts (estimators, project managers, engineering heads, procurement).
  • Gather qualitative information on buying criteria, project involvement, geographic coverage, and partnership potential.

3. Data Management & Analytics (15%)

  • Build and maintain clean, structured databases (Excel/Google Sheets/CRM).
  • Create dashboards summarizing customer segmentation, market opportunity, and business fitment.
  • Standardize fields (e.g., company size, project type, segment alignment, decision-maker roles).
  • Support internal teams by supplying validated contact lists, segment insights, and project information.

Deliverables

  • Comprehensive database of target companies (e.g., plumbing contractors/subcontractors for hospitality in the USA).
  • Validated key contact list for each account.
  • Segment-by-segment intelligence packs (vertical, region, company type).
  • Fitment scoring model for prioritizing customers.
  • Weekly/biweekly progress reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 24 years of experience in research, data analysis, or market intelligence (preferably in construction, HVAC, MEP, building technologies, or industrial sectors).
  • Hands-on experience with secondary research methods and data sourcing.
  • Comfortable with calling and engaging external stakeholders for primary research.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets; experience with CRM tools is an asset.
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Detail-oriented, self-driven, and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
