Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Access Governance Lead to drive the design, implementation, and ongoing management of data access governance frameworks across enterprise data platforms.

The role will focus on defining and implementing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) models, ensuring secure and compliant access to enterprise data while enabling business teams to leverage data effectively.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data governance, Identity and Access Management (IAM), data security, and modern cloud-based data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Access Policy & Governance Framework

• Define and maintain data access governance policies, standards, and RBAC frameworks.
• Design role and entitlement models aligned with business roles and data classification requirements.
• Ensure least-privilege access and segregation-of-duties principles.

2. Implementation & Operations

• Partner with platform engineering and IT security teams to implement access controls across enterprise data platforms.
• Establish access request, approval, provisioning, and de-provisioning workflows.
• Lead periodic access reviews, certification, and recertification activities.
• Monitor access risks, including dormant accounts, excessive privileges, and unauthorized access.

3. Stakeholder Management & Compliance

• Collaborate with business data owners, data stewards, IT security, and engineering teams.
• Support internal and external audits related to data access controls.
• Drive adoption of data access governance policies and processes.
• Track and report access governance KPIs, compliance, and risk posture.

4. Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to automate access provisioning, reviews, monitoring, and reporting.
• Improve data access governance processes through automation and platform capabilities.
• Stay updated with emerging data security and access management practices.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Identity & Access Management (IAM), or Data Security.
• Strong understanding of RBAC and ABAC models and enterprise access control frameworks.
• Experience with modern data platforms such as Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, and Power BI.
• Understanding of data privacy and regulatory compliance requirements, including GDPR.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience in designing and implementing automated data access governance processes.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with data governance and cataloguing tools such as:
• Microsoft Purview
• Databricks Unity Catalog
• Collibra
• Alation
• Experience translating data access requirements from enterprise transactional systems such as SAP and Salesforce into data platform RBAC/ABAC models.
• Experience working in large, global, and matrixed enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of data classification, sensitive data protection, and access lifecycle management.
