Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Hydraulic Modeling & Analysis: Conduct advanced 1D, 2D, and 3D hydraulic modeling (e.g., using HEC-RAS, Flow-3D, or ANSYS CFD) to simulate flow dynamics, flood routing, and reservoir operations.
- Hydraulic Design of different dam structures: Lead the design of complex hydraulic appurtenances including spillways, stilling basins, intake/outlet works including hydropower intakes, tunnels, and diversion schemes and channels.
- Dam Safety & Risk Assessment: Perform dam break analysis, hydraulic capacity assessments and contribute to Potential Failure Mode Analyses (PFMA) and dam safety evaluations.
- Cross-Discipline Coordination: Work seamlessly with geotechnical, structural, and environmental engineering teams to integrate hydraulic requirements into the broader dam design.
- Project & Team Leadership: Manage project scope, schedules, and budgets. Mentor junior engineers and review technical specifications, drawings, and reports.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: B.Tech in Civil Engineering and M.Tech. in Water Resources Engineering.
- Experience: 5–15 years of progressive experience in hydraulic analysis and design focused on water infrastructure, barrages, or hydroelectric/dam projects.
- Technical Software Skills: Mastery of industry-standard modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Flow-3D, Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of dam engineering guidelines and standards (e.g., ICOLD, USBR, FERC, or regional equivalents).
- Analytical Skills: Strong foundation in open-channel hydraulics, and hydrology.
- Communication: Exceptional technical writing and presentation skills for client meetings.
