Job Description

Selected Intern's Day-to-day Responsibilities Include

Performing daily health checks and security monitoring on edge devices (Raspberry Pi and other Linux-based systems).
Conducting manual security scans to identify suspicious processes, unauthorized access, malware, or abnormal system behavior.
Reviewing system logs (auth logs, syslogs, cron jobs, running services) to detect anomalies.
Assisting in configuring, updating, and maintaining Ubuntu-based devices with security best practices.
Verifying software integrity and checking for unauthorized installations or modifications.
Supporting patch management by ensuring timely OS and package updates.
Troubleshooting basic hardware and software issues on edge deployments.
Writing simple scripts (Python/Bash) to automate security checks and reporting.
Documenting findings, incidents, and remediation steps in internal trackers.
Assisting the security team in incident triage and preliminary investigation.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of Ubuntu/Linux systems (processes, services, permissions, SSH).
Understanding of fundamental cybersecurity concepts (malware, ports, firewalls, logs, privilege escalation).
Familiarity with Raspberry Pi or embedded/Linux-based edge devices.
Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar).
Basic understanding of networking (IP, ports, SSH, firewall basics).
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
