About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Security Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will play a critical part in a pioneering project aimed at training and enhancing next-generation AI systems. Your expertise in backend development and cybersecurity will be instrumental in creating realistic, challenging coding tasks that help improve AI models ability to solve complex security and backend engineering problems. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess strong backend software engineering experience, with proficiency in languages such as Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, or C++. You should have a proven track record of developing scalable backend services and APIs, along with excellent debugging and performance optimization skills. A solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and core computer science principles is essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with excellent communication skills suitable for remote collaboration. Experience with automated testing, secure coding practices, and software validation is highly valued. Preferred qualifications include a background in cybersecurity, vulnerability assessment, or SecOps, as well as experience with penetration testing, security-focused code reviews, and large-scale system refactoring.

Responsibilities

• Create realistic and challenging coding tasks involving backend development, feature implementation, debugging, and security-focused problem solving.
• Design tasks that mirror real-world software engineering and cybersecurity scenarios to effectively train and evaluate AI models.
• Implement deterministic verifiers capable of accepting valid solutions and rejecting incorrect or incomplete ones, ensuring reliable task evaluation.
• Develop and evaluate backend services, APIs, and software components using languages such as Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, and C++.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software bugs, system performance issues, and security vulnerabilities.
• Apply secure coding principles and cybersecurity best practices to engineering tasks, ensuring high standards of security and reliability.
• Conduct thorough code reviews to assess correctness, security, maintainability, and performance standards.
• Refactor existing codebases and implement complex features within large-scale applications to enhance functionality and security.
• Develop automated tests and validation mechanisms to ensure consistent and accurate task evaluation.
• Document technical decisions, debugging strategies, security considerations, and solution expectations to facilitate team understanding and project continuity.
