The Role:

As part of this, a Brennan Cyber Security Engineer is part of a team whose primarily responsibility is to deploy and manage security technology for Brennan. This will include a level of security architecture and design, installation and configuration, and then ongoing operational and security monitoring of security technology.

Role Responsibilities

  • Implementation, configuration and optimisation of cyber security technologies across Brennan IT and its customer environments.
  • Provide technical consulting and advisory services to Brennan customers regarding cyber security solutions aligned with Brennan capabilities and services.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of secure architectures, ensuring appropriate security controls are incorporated into customer environments.
  • Deployment, configuration and ongoing management of security platforms such as endpoint protection, SIEM, firewalls, identity security, and cloud security technologies.
  • Assist in the integration of security tools with existing customer infrastructure and ensure they operate effectively within the managed environment.
  • Respond to automatically detected and manually reported security incidents and alerts in accordance with established incident response processes and procedures.
  • Analyse security alerts and events to determine potential threats, misconfigurations, or security control improvements.
  • Support vulnerability management activities, including reviewing vulnerability assessment results and assisting customers with remediation guidance.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise to colleagues, projects, and other technical teams across Brennan IT services.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, configuration standards, and operational procedures related to deployed security technologies.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing initiatives with other Brennan IT security team members, including preparing and reviewing technical documentation and best practice guidance.

Key Competencies and Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the IT industry, supporting technologies such as Windows Server and Workstation, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Linux, networking (LAN, WAN, VPN), cloud infrastructure, and private IaaS platforms.
  • Strong understanding of cyber security principles, industry best practices, and common attack techniques, including detection, prevention, and containment methods.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing, configuring, and managing security technologies such as:
  • Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)
  • Firewalls and network security controls
  • IDS / IPS
  • Identity and Privileged Access Management (IAM / PAM)
  • Experience supporting security monitoring, alert investigation, and incident response activities using security tools such as SIEM or security monitoring platforms.
  • Experience implementing security controls in cloud environments, particularly Azure security services and Microsoft 365 security features.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management processes, including reviewing vulnerability scan results and supporting remediation activities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot security technologies and resolve complex technical issues across hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and customer engagement skills, with the ability to explain security concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.
