Customs Specialist

Job Summary: Responsible for coordinating import documentation and clearance activities, ensuring timely shipment processing, compliance with customs requirements, and effective communication with importers, forwarders, and internal teams. Also handles documentation follow-ups, E-way bills, insurance checks, and support for perishable shipments.

Responsibilities:

Maintain and update dockets using Navision (Nav Vision) software.

Prepare and share Daily Status Reports (DSR) with internal teams and importers.

Monitor shipment arrivals on a daily basis and coordinate timely clearance processes.

Manage approval and clarification processes for checklists, required documentation, and importer/forwarder queries.

Handle requests and releases related to Duty, Delivery Orders (DO), and Estimated Delivery Dates (EDD) for internal teams, importers, and freight forwarders.

Generate and coordinate E-Way Bill requests with customers or internally, ensuring timely preparation and clearance of shipments.

Liaise with the airport operations team for daily clearance activities and resolve any operational issues.

Ensure Bill of Entry (BE) is filed under the correct NOM AWB IGM link and uploaded to E-Sanchit for responding to customs queries.

Verify value and validity of WH/PD bonds and initiate bond requests with importers as required.

Check the validity of Marine Insurance and request renewal from importers before expiry.

Arrange dry ice for perishable shipments as and when required.

Take ownership of checklist responsibilities during the absence.

Qualifications:

Experience in import documentation and clearance processes.

Familiarity with Navision or similar ERP systems.

Strong coordination skills with internal teams, importers, freight forwarders, and customs officials.

Knowledge of customs regulations, E-Sanchit, E-Way Bill generation, and marine insurance practices.

Ability to handle time-sensitive and perishable shipments efficiently.

Good communication and follow-up skills.
