SWIFT Alliance Engineer – AMH / SAA

Banking Payments - Techno-Functional - 8+ Years

Role at a Glance

Location - Hyderabad / Bengaluru (Preferred)

Experience - 8 Years in SWIFT / Banking Payments

Engagement Type - Full-Time - Client-Facing

Domain Banking Payments – High Value, Cross-Border, ISO 20022

Role Summary:

We are looking for a skilled SWIFT Alliance Engineer with hands-on expertise in both SWIFT Alliance Messaging Hub (AMH) and SWIFT Alliance Access (SAA), backed by strong knowledge of banking payments domain. This is a techno-functional role — the ideal candidate bridges technical implementation (AMH workflow design, message transformation, ISO 20022 migration) with functional domain understanding (payment lifecycle, compliance, settlement, and reconciliation).

The engineer will be responsible for designing, configuring, and supporting end-to-end SWIFT messaging pipelines, driving ISO 20022 adoption, and collaborating closely with business and technology stakeholders to deliver compliant, scalable payment solutions.

Key Responsibilities

AMH Engineering & Configuration

Design, configure, and maintain AMH routing rules, message workflows, and transformation pipelines for MT and MX formats

Develop message transformation logic using Informatica Data Transformation (DT) or equivalent tools (XML, XSLT, JSON)

Integrate AMH with core banking systems (T24, Finacle, GPP, LOANIQ) and middleware platforms (MQ, IIB/ACE)

Build and optimize straight-through processing (STP) flows, enrichment rules, and compliance validation checks within AMH

Manage AMH deployments across environments (DEV, SIT, UAT, PROD) and support release change management

SAA / SWIFT Infrastructure Collaboration

Understand and support SWIFT Alliance Access (SAA) connectivity, including FIN, InterAct, FileAct, and FINplus service configurations

Coordinate with infrastructure teams on SAG, SNL, HSM certificate management, RMA key exchanges, and SWIFT IP VPN

Liaise with SWIFT operations for network connectivity, service incidents, and compliance patching

Support SWIFT CSP (Customer Security Programme) audit requirements and remediation activities

ISO 20022 & SWIFT Standards

Lead or contribute to ISO 20022 migration programmes — CBPR+ and TARGET2 — covering message mapping, field translation, and coexistence-period handling

Implement and test SWIFT Annual Release changes (2025, 2026 and beyond) including schema updates, new field requirements, and deprecated tag management

Ensure MT-to-MX translation accuracy for key message types: pacs.008 (MT103), pacs.009 (MT202/MT202COV), camt.054 (MT900/MT910)

Stay current with SWIFT Standards Releases, MX schemas, and CBPR+ rule updates

Functional – Payments Domain

Apply deep understanding of payment lifecycle: initiation, validation, routing, settlement, reconciliation, and exception handling

Perform functional impact analysis for change requests across payment flows, identifying upstream/downstream dependencies

Support requirements gathering and solution design sessions with business stakeholders, translating functional needs into technical SWIFT configurations

Work with operations and compliance teams on AML screening integration, sanctions checks, and regulatory reporting touchpoints

Contribute to functional test design (SIT/UAT), defect triage, and root cause analysis for SWIFT payment incidents

Skills & Experience Requirements

Must-Have

Skill Area & Requirement

SWIFT AMH - Hands-on configuration of routing rules, workflows, transformation pipelines — not just monitoring or testing

SWIFT SAA / SAG - Working knowledge of SAA connectivity, FIN/InterAct/FileAct services, and SAG/SNL concepts

ISO 20022 Migration - Practical experience with CBPR+ and/or TARGET2 migration — implementation side preferred

SWIFT Annual Releases - Experience implementing or testing SWIFT 2024/2025 release changes awareness of 2026 roadmap

Core Banking Integration - Hands-on integration of SWIFT messaging with T24, Finacle, GPP, or equivalent core banking platforms

Middleware / MQ - Experience with IBM MQ, IIB/ACE or equivalent for message queuing and backend integration

Payments Domain - Strong functional knowledge of cross-border payments, settlement, reconciliation, and payment exception handling

Message Formats - Deep understanding of MT (103, 202, 202COV, 900, 910) and MX (pacs, camt, pain) message structures

Good-to-Have

Skill Area & Preference

Cloud Platforms - Azure preferred exposure to AWS or GCP also acceptable — cloud-native payment workloads is a plus

DevOps / CI-CD - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, release automation, Docker/Kubernetes in a financial services context

Microservices / APIs - Experience with REST API integration, event-driven architecture, or microservices-based payment platforms

Scripting / Automation - Python, SQL, or scripting skills for log analysis, reconciliation automation, or test data generation

Informatica DT - Informatica Data Transformation or PowerCenter for multi-format message transformation

BA Skills - Requirements documentation, RTM, user stories, and acceptance criteria writing for payment change requests

What Makes This Role Techno-Functional-

Candidates must demonstrate strength on both dimensions. A pure technical profile without payments domain grounding, or a pure BA/QA profile without AMH engineering depth, will not meet the requirements.

Technical Dimension Functional Dimension

AMH routing rules & workflow design - Payment lifecycle — initiation to settlement

ISO 20022 message mapping & transformation - Functional impact analysis for change requests

Core banking & MQ integration - Business requirements gathering & translation

SWIFT release implementation Compliance awareness — AML, sanctions, SWIFT CSP

Production incident root cause analysis - Defect triage & UAT coordination with stakeholders

Professional Attributes

Strong stakeholder communication — able to explain technical SWIFT concepts to business audiences and vice versa

Comfortable working in multi-vendor, client-facing delivery environments

Proactive in flagging risks, tracking issues, and driving resolution across technical and functional workstreams

Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership over message accuracy, data quality, and compliance

Collaborative team player with the ability to onboard, mentor, and document for knowledge continuity

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
