Your Job

Your Job

Job specific intro paragraph You will serve as the primary Culture & Language Interpreter bridging India and Japan for CCS engineering and plant interactions. In this role you will enable faster, clearer project execution by interpreting Japanese (oral and written), clarifying cultural expectations, and facilitating seamless collaboration between Japan-based stakeholders and India engineering, product, vendor, and quality teams.

Our Team

We are part of the Engineering group supporting CCS, working closely with Japan-based Product Development Engineers (PDEs) and plant stakeholders. The team enables cross-border engineering, vendor development, and product execution to support CCS business growth.

What You Will Do

  • Enable clear, timely bi-directional communication between Japan and India engineering/product/plant teams by interpreting spoken and written Japanese into actionable guidance for India teams.
  • Translate and summarize technical documents and meeting outcomes into concise, audit-ready Minutes of Meeting (MOM) and project artifacts that accelerate project progress.
  • Act as a live interpreter in meetings and on the shop floor to remove language and cultural barriers that could delay engineering, vendor, or quality activities.
  • Facilitate vendor engagement and development activities between Japan and India to support product introduction and manufacturing readiness.
  • Support product management and quality review processes by representing engineering perspectives in real time and ensuring stakeholder alignment.
  • Promote Japanese cultural awareness and develop in-house Japanese language skills within the India engineering group to improve long-term collaboration and reduce rework.
  • Proactively identify communication or cultural risks and work with stakeholders to resolve issues that could impact schedules or product quality

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree (any discipline) and demonstrated Japanese language proficiency: JLPT N1 or N2 and strong spoken Japanese.
  • Minimum 2 years industry experience as a Japanese language interpreter working with manufacturing plants, product management, and engineering teams.
  • Proven ability to interpret technical Japanese (oral and written) and produce clear, structured English outputs (MOMs, summaries, action items).
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural collaboration skills with experience engaging multiple global stakeholders (engineering, vendors, quality, product).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage documentation, support scheduled deliverables, and act proactively to resolve communication or coordination issues.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Prior experience translating or interpreting highly technical engineering content (electrical, mechanical, manufacturing process terminology).
  • Proven experience working in product development/process environments (stage-gate, NPI/NPD) or with manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Experience facilitating vendor development and assessments across international boundaries.
  • Experience or training in cross-cultural communication, language coaching, or internal training to upskill local teams in Japanese language/culture.
