Job Description
Title: Crystal Reports / Tableau Developer
Location: 100% Remote
About the Role
The immediate priority is helping work through a significant reporting backlog. Approximately 60% Crystal Reports / T-SQL and 40% Tableau. Primarily modifying and troubleshooting existing reports rather than building new Crystal reports. Candidate will work directly with business requestors and have access to the request history and requirements through the team's tracking process.
Responsibilities
- The immediate priority is helping Ed work through a significant reporting backlog.
- Approximately 60% Crystal Reports / T-SQL and 40% Tableau.
- Primarily modifying and troubleshooting existing reports rather than building new Crystal reports.
- Crystal reports are complex and may involve formulas, subreports, parameters, stored procedures, complex joins, and other dependencies.
- Candidate will need to reverse-engineer existing reports and understand how previous developers built them.
- SQL/T-SQL work can involve independently reviewing and correcting 1,000+ line stored procedures, including tracing nested stored procedure calls and understanding downstream impacts before making changes.
- Tableau work includes building and modifying dashboards, troubleshooting incorrect data, manipulating data sources, and creating the requested visualizations.
- Candidate will work directly with business requestors and have access to the request history and requirements through the team's tracking process.
Qualifications
- Candidates need to be able to work independently with limited day-to-day supervision.
Required Skills
- Crystal Reports is a major priority. we needs someone who truly knows Crystal and can troubleshoot complex existing reports independently.
- Recent Crystal Reports 2020 experience is preferred, but the manager states that the version itself is less important if the candidate genuinely knows Crystal. Someone with strong Crystal experience in 2019/2016, for example, could still be considered.
- Strong SQL Server / T-SQL experience is equally important.
- Tableau is required, with approximately 2+ years of consistent hands-on Tableau experience being sufficient.
- The resume review will focus heavily on the candidate's SQL, T-SQL, Crystal Reports, and Tableau experience and the depth of experience with each.
Preferred Skills
- Facilities experience is a nice-to-have, particularly because it helps with the terminology and business environment, but it is not required.
- Industry background is otherwise flexible. They have hired candidates from a variety of industries.
