Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cryogenic Propulsion Test Engineer to join our propulsion systems team. The role involves planning, execution, and analysis of cryogenic engine and subsystem tests to support design validation, qualification, and flight readiness of liquid rocket engines.

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning & Execution

  • Develop test plans, test procedures, and safety documentation for cryogenic propulsion systems.
  • Conduct hot-fire tests, cold-flow tests, and subsystem verifications for cryogenic engines.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for facility readiness, instrumentation setup, and test execution.

Facility & System Setup

  • Design, review, and implement P&IDs, fluid schematics, and facility modifications for cryogenic propellant systems.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and operation of cryogenic fluid handling systems (LOX, LH2, LN2).
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols for handling cryogenic and high-pressure systems.

Instrumentation & Data Analysis

  • Define sensor requirements (pressure, temperature, flow, thrust, vibration, etc.).
  • Monitor and troubleshoot real-time test data.
  • Post-test data reduction, performance analysis, and correlation with design models.

Process & Documentation

  • Lead root cause analysis of test anomalies and implement corrective actions.
  • Document test reports, data logs, and technical findings.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test processes and facility reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in aerospace, Mechanical, or Cryogenics Engineering.
  • Minimum of 24 years of relevant experience in propulsion systems, testing, or related fields
  • Strong knowledge of cryogenic fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and rocket propulsion.
  • Hands-on experience with cryogenic propellant handling, test facility operations, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, risk assessment, and hazard analysis for cryogenic testing.
  • Proficiency in tools like MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, or other data acquisition/analysis software.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with liquid rocket engine hot-fire testing (LOX/Kerosene, LOX/LH2/LNG, or storable propellants).
  • Exposure to pressurization systems (Helium, GN2), turbomachinery, and control valves.
  • Knowledge of system modelling, CFD, or FEA tools is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.

Location & Work Environment

  • On-site test facility operations (may involve remote test sites).
  • High-paced environment with emphasis on safety, precision, and reliability.
  • Requires occasional long hours and shift-based operations during test campaigns.
  • Working closely with test technicians to prepare hardware for testing.
  • Operating test consoles in a control room during test campaigns.
  • Working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the pressure of strict deadlines
