Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Crewing Manager to oversee all crewing operations for a fleet of managed vessels. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and compliant manning of vessels while maintaining high standards of crew competence, welfare, retention, and operational efficiency.

The role requires strong knowledge of maritime regulations, crew management processes, and stakeholder coordination across vessels, principals, manning offices, and seafarers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the end-to-end manning process for the assigned fleet, ensuring optimal crew availability, competency, certification, training compliance, and workforce planning.
  • Ensure all seafarers engaged onboard meet STCW, MLC, Flag State, and Company manning standards, including qualifications, certification validity, and medical fitness standards.
  • Support and ensure fulfilment of the Company's recruitment, onboarding, and training requirements for shipboard personnel.
  • Coordinate familiarization programs for Masters and Officers and arrange participation in shore-based training courses as directed by the Marine Personnel Manager.
  • Manage crew medical and welfare matters relating to illness, injury, hospitalization, repatriation, or medical disembarkation cases.
  • Ensure vessels are provided with all required authenticated crew documentation and statutory records, including ship articles and related certificates.
  • Review employment contracts of seafarers engaged directly through Minerva Marine Inc.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date crew documentation, including crew lists, contracts, certification records, medical reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor Crew Operators and subordinate fleet staff including performance monitoring and professional development initiatives.
  • Foster strong communication and collaboration across departments to ensure smooth operational coordination and fleet support.
  • Monitor departmental KPIs, prepare operational reports, and support execution of assigned crewing and organizational projects.
  • Drive and promote a strong culture of safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility across all crewing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, HR, or related discipline.
  • Sailing experience as a Senior Officer is an advantage.
  • Prior crewing experience within a ship management or shipping company would be an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of STCW, MLC 2006, flag state requirements, and maritime labor regulations.
  • Experience handling multinational crew and global manning networks.
  • Familiarity with crewing software and ERP systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
