Role Description:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Crew Planning & Deployment
Plan crew changes according to vessel schedules and owner requirements
Ensure timely reliefs and minimize off-hire time
Maintain crew matrices and rotation plans.
2. Recruitment & Selection
Source, screen, and interview officers and ratings
Verify certificates, licenses, and experience
Maintain a reliable pool of competent seafarers
3. Compliance & Documentation
Ensure compliance with STCW, MLC 2006, flag state, and owner requirements
Manage crew documentation: passports, visas, medicals, certificates
Coordinate audits and inspections related to crewing
4. Owner & Vessel Liaison
Act as the main contact for shipowners on crewing matters
Handle owner feedback, performance issues, and special requests
Communicate with Masters regarding crew performance and onboard issues
5. Crew Welfare & Performance
Monitor crew performance and discipline
Address crew grievances, welfare, and contract issues
Support career development and promotions
6. Cost Control & Budgeting
Control crew costs in line with owner budgets
Negotiate wages, contracts, and travel arrangements
Monitor overtime, bonuses, and travel expenses
7. Emergency & Operational Support
Handle urgent crew replacements and medical sign-offs
Support vessels during incidents or emergencies involving crew
8. Team management & Supervision
Supervise, guide, and mentor junior crew managers and crew executives; allocate tasks, monitor performance, ensure adherence to crewing procedures, and support their professional development.
