Role Summary:

We are looking for a highly driven and creative Producer to lead the end-to-end execution of documentary films, branded content, and other storytelling formats. The ideal candidate will combine strong creative instincts with excellent project management capabilities, ensuring that every production is delivered on time, within budget, and at the highest quality standards.

This role requires ownership across the entire production lifecycle, from concept development and scripting to shoot execution, client management, and post-production oversight.

Responsibilities:

Creative Development & Pre-Production

  • Develop compelling story narratives, documentary concepts, and creative approaches aligned with project objectives.
  • Conduct research and collaborate with stakeholders to identify impactful stories and characters.
  • Write and refine scripts, interview questionnaires, treatments, and storyboards.
  • Create production plans, shoot schedules, shot lists, and creative briefs.
  • Coordinate logistics including locations, permissions, travel, equipment, and crew requirements.

Production & Shoot Execution

  • Lead on-ground production and ensure smooth execution of shoots.
  • Coordinate with directors, cinematographers, sound engineers, editors, and other production partners.
  • Manage talent, speakers, beneficiaries, and stakeholders during filming.
  • Ensure creative vision is translated effectively during production while maintaining quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot production challenges and make real-time decisions to keep projects on track.

Post-Production Management

  • Oversee the editing process from rough cut to final delivery.
  • Provide creative feedback on edits, graphics, animations, music, and overall storytelling.
  • Ensure films meet brand guidelines, project objectives, and quality benchmarks.
  • Manage review cycles with internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all project outputs and assets.

Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project planning, budgeting, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate across internal teams including creative, production, design, operations, and partnerships.
  • Track project progress, identify risks, and proactively resolve bottlenecks.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients regarding deliverables, timelines, and approvals.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within scope, timeline, and budget.

Quality & Process Excellence

  • Establish and maintain production workflows and documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to Josh Talks storytelling standards and production quality benchmarks.
  • Contribute innovative storytelling formats and creative approaches for future projects.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, documentary storytelling techniques, and digital content formats.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in documentary filmmaking, branded content production, journalism, media production, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end film production projects.
  • Strong scripting, storytelling, and storyboarding skills.
  • Experience coordinating shoots across multiple locations and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of production workflows, cinematography, and post-production processes.
  • Experience managing clients and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Experience producing social impact, development sector, or human-interest stories.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or other editing workflows.
  • Experience working with brands, NGOs, government agencies, or development organizations.
  • Multilingual communication skills are an added advantage.
